In this personal account, Mentor Program Manager Gemma Kollios shares her personal milestone: finally having the ankle monitor bracelet taken off.
This month marks a monumental triumph in my journey: the removal of my ankle monitor and the completion of parole! It’s been a challenging road, filled with obstacles and moments of frustration, fear and doubt.
For over 3 years the weight of the ankle monitor brought not just physical discomfort, but also shame and judgment from the public
But through sheer determination and resilience, I’ve overcome every roadblock in my path.
A contributing factor to my success was the chance of meaningful employment where I was able to feel valued and contribute to the community. I thank Success Works Partners for this opportunity.
To all those who have faced similar struggles or know someone navigating the complexities of parole, I want to share a message of hope: you can succeed too!
Life takes on a whole new brightness when you no longer have to contend with the challenges of parole and public judgment
Keep pushing forward, because every obstacle conquered brings you one step closer to freedom and fulfilment. Here’s to embracing a future full of endless possibilities.
